About the Creator

My name is Roscoe Brown, and I am a construction superintendent, safety advocate, and the creator of S.P.O.T.-MAN™ — Safety Person On Team.

I have spent years in the construction industry watching how fast jobsite conditions can change. One minute a worker is moving through a familiar area, and the next minute that same area presents a new hazard. On active jobsites, people can become used to their surroundings. They can walk past warning signs, fall into routine, or operate on autopilot without realizing something has changed.

That is why I created S.P.O.T.-MAN™.

S.P.O.T.-MAN™ was designed to be more than a sign. It is a behavior-based visual awareness cue created to interrupt jobsite blindness, remind workers to pause, and bring attention back to the task, the hazard, and the people around them.

The message is simple:

SEE. PAUSE. OBSERVE. TAKE ACTION.

S.P.O.T.-MAN™ puts safety responsibility directly back into the hands of the worker. The word YOU is placed where the face would normally be because every worker has a role in protecting themselves and their team.

To me, safety is not just about rules, paperwork, or compliance. It is about awareness. It is about reminding people in real time that conditions change, hazards move, and one small pause can prevent a serious incident.

The “MAN” in S.P.O.T.-MAN™ also stands for:

That is the purpose of the system — to give workers a visual nudge before the moment becomes dangerous.
